HOLLYWOOD ROUND-UP #2
November 30th 2006 17:06
Okay, since you obviously hate these round-ups, I'm gonna write one more just for the sake of it. You know, it doesn't matter what you think, since ultimately it's about what I think. I think that blog-posts should be short; otherwise I'm too lazy to read them. Blogs should me entertaining and give information without going on and on and on.
That's why round-ups are nice.
"Fantastic Four" was one of the better comedic comic book adaptations, and the sequel is on its way. Tim Flattery, a big-ass designer, is the maker of the car that will be used in it, and we can peek on it already. You can clearly see it's based on manta rays and stingrays. I wonder if he made the design before or after the Irwin-incident. I wild guess - before.
They say a "Beverly Hills Cop 4" is on its way, which can be good if executed right. I thought the first ones were funny, until the 3:rd ruined everything. Eddie is slowly getting back on track after recovering from the too childish films he made lately, and takes on more serious comedic projects. He's currently looking for a writer together with Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
Now we're going to talk about a movie I've been waiting for quite some time, all the way back to October this year. I saw the trailer and felt totally hooked up. Now there's a clip of it out there as well, where you can get some further taste out of it. Oh, sorry, I'm talking about "Blood Diamond". DiCaprio who plays an "white African" clearly tries too hard with the African accent, but I think it's good enough. I mean, I don't think many would've been able to do it like him. So here you can see the new clip and trailer, if you haven't already.
Mel Gibson sat through a four hour long interview with Entertainment Weekly, and talked about anti-semitism, his view on different stuff, and of course "Apocalypto". Here are some nice excerpts (to read more, go over here):
How is your relationship with Hollywood these days? Do you feel you've done enough apologizing for your anti-Semitic remarks?
Those were the ravings of an inebriated, angry person. I don't know. I think publicly I have done enough. The process continues. The people I know in this town come up to me and say, ''What the f--- is wrong with you?'' I go, ''Sorry.'' They get it. It's not a big thing. It's like, ''Okay, so when are we going to work together again?'' The people who don't know me, if I've offended them, I'm sorry.
You've said it was pent-up anger over criticism that The Passion was anti-Semitic? Did those charges sting?
I did have a chip on my shoulder about a lot of things that happened [with that movie] that I felt were unjust. I'm not waiting for an apology — that's not going to happen — but stuff comes out in a distorted manner when you're drunk. It was just stupid ravings, from pressure and tension. But it's not like I went to Yankee Stadium and said [pretends to bang on a microphone], ''Excuse me...''
Or said them on stage at a comedy club?
I felt like sending Michael Richards a note. I feel really badly for the guy. He was obviously in a state of stress. You don't need to be inebriated to be bent out of shape. My heart went out to the guy. Poor f---er, he's getting it now. They'll probably torture him for a while and then let him go. I like him.
Clooney signed on for two new movies, the one called "White Jazz" an adaptation of James Ellroy's noir novel. Clooney will play the crooked LAPD cop. The second one is "The Belmont Boys", where he actually will be the director. It sounds nice, cause it's a smart heist story, and I like heist stories. After all Clooney knows his stuff within that territory after all the Ocean's [insert number here].
"Smokin' Aces" is without any doubt the movie I'm most excited about right now. It just looks SO good. I guess it's because I generally like this kind of style in movies, with weird and different characters, suspenseful goals and twisty endings. You can a watch a brand new trailer right here:
