Film Peek - February 2007

SOME LATE OSCAR THOUGHTS

February 28th 2007 01:11

Overall I thought the Oscars went smooth and Ellen did ok. She started the Awards pretty strong but faded out until the end. I've seen better but it wasn't bad. The speeches were so-so, most were written on paper and therefore pretty non emotional.

Pan's Labyrinth is the clear winner in my eyes, even though The Departed won most dudes. I guess it was more the charity-awards for Scorsese because his movie certainly wasn't the best. Okay, please don't hate me for saying this, but you all know it's true deep in your harts. No? Well, go deeper and you'll see.

I'm glad Dreamgirls didn't win more than two Oscars. It was the most nominated and even though I haven't seen it, judging from the performances on the stage yesterday, the songs are pretty boring. And I'm actually a huge musical-fan, so don't think otherwise.

What's more to say... Oh, not at all as much comedy as previous years, especially not by other people than the host itself. Only Will Ferrell, Jack Black and the other guy from Talladega Nights performed a fun song, but that's about it.

Smoothest and coolest man there? I have to say Will Smith and his son.

Smoothest and coolest woman? I have to say... I have to say... hmm... oh, Clint Eastwood's wife! Look at the red carpet to understand what I mean, she basically is Clint's interpreter.

That was all I could think of. What can you think of?
