'ROCKY' VOTED THE NUMBER ONE SPORTS FILM

European DVD rental website LOVEFiLM.com has voted Rocky the number one sports film of all time. The 1976 classic film that stars Sylvester Stallone as heavyweight fighter Rocky Balboa beat hit 1994 comedy Cool Runnings into second place.

In third place was Clint Eastwood's Oscar-winning Million Dollar Baby where Hilary Swank played a female boxer battling to become a professional.

Fourth place was a tie between American football movie Jerry Maguire and Martin Scorsese's 1980 classic boxing tale Raging Bull. I would never have thought of Jerry Maguire as being a sports film, but I guess it was. All I think about is Tom Cruise yelling and jumping up and down, a bit like he did on Oprah's sofa.

Other top ten members were the Field of Dreams, White Men Can't Jump, Chariots of Fire and Escape to Victory.

I’m surprised Bend it like Beckham wasn’t in there with my favourite Keira Knightly.

NICOLE KIDMAN OFFERED NEW MUSICAL ROLE - NINE

It seems like we might be seeing Nicole Kidman in another singing role after her success in Moulin Rouge and her collaboration with Robbie Williams.

If Kidman does accept the role, she may appear alongside Penelope Cruz who dated Tom Cruise after his marriage split from Kidman.

The film, Nine, is a musical loosely based on Federico Fellini's 81/2, which tells the story of a director and the women in his life.

Federico Fellini (1920 –1993) was an Italian film director known for his distinctive, well-defined, unique style that meshed fantasy and baroque images. He is seen to have been one of the most influential and widely revered film-makers of the 20th century. His works won numerous awards, including four Oscars, two Silver Lions and a Palme d'Or.

Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men, The Dancer Upstairs) has already accepted the leading role alongside Marion Cotillard (La Vie en Rose, A Good Year).

Rob Marshall will be directing, his prior achievements being Chicago with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renee Zellweger.

LINDSAY NAKED - AGAIN

LINDSAY NAKED - AGAIN

It seems that Lindsay’s Marilyn pictures have encouraged her to have further public nudity urges. Peek here if you haven't already seen them.

She is now reportedly set to play a sex-hungry waitress in upcoming low-budget film Florence. Sounds like her sort of gig.

If you’re interested, she’s been offered to bare all on screen for only $75,000. Is it cruel to say that’s cheap in many senses of the word?

Apparently, producers were happy for Lindsay to appear topless but she was keen to be completely naked to prove herself as a mature actress. Hmm, that’s an interesting way of affirming her acting worth...

According to a source: "She just wants to remind people that she can act and she’s worth hiring. She said it would be no problem to appear nude."

Well, we already know that!

FULL LENGTH HELLBOY 2 TRAILER

April 4th 2008 14:35
hellboy 2 trailer
The first Hellboy movie became very discrete in the sense that marketing and buzz wasn't exactly fair to its quality. Unfortunately it happens that good movies often are treated worse than seriously weak ones.

The companies get another chance though, with Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, the sequel to Guillermo Del Toro's own comic character. And well enough, this time we hear a lot more about it than we did with the previous one and we do so from a very early stage. Now the full length trailer is out, showing Hellboy smash things up and fighting enormous creatures with his hands and blazing hot guns.

I'm not completely pleased, not to say it doesn't look great. I just feel Del Toro is stuck in the same creature-designs and stories, but then again it's what only he can do and does it very well.

FAT BOY PRANKS FAT BOY

Pretty hilarious clip, of a fat boy visiting the press set where Simon Pegg and director David Schwimmer sit.

I'm not sure if they knew about it, but it seems like they have no idea what's going on. Watch the trailer for Run Fat Boy Run here and the clip here:

pineapple express
We haven't talked about this movie much, but it sure is worth it, so here you get it in the face. Pineapple Express is the title and Seth Rogen is the keyname. Seth has great comedy and it's proven with Superbad and Knocked Up.

In Pineapple Express we also get James Franco as his partner in crime (or smoooke), who is more of an actor than a comedian. Which is good, you get funny story in quality package.

The movie is about a stoner and his dealer that are forced to go on the run from the police after the pothead witnesses a cop commit a murder. [IMDB]

A trailer is out and it hits the target, with a tagline saying "one hit could ruin your entire day". However the poster looks fine too, but with another tagline, the still as fun "put this in your pipe and smoke it".

Pineapple Express is released August 8th.

BRAD PITT – LOST CITY OF Z

BRAD PITT – LOST CITY OF Z
Percy Fawcett and Brad Pitt

I’ll admit it, I’m fickle. My initial interest in the film Lost City of Z stemmed from my lust for Brad Pitt. But as I always say, much knowledge can be gained from film-watching.

City of Lost Z chronicles the journey of Colonel Percy Harrison Fawcett, a British archaeologist and explorer who disappeared 83 years ago.

In 1925, with funding from a London-based group of financiers called The Glove, Fawcett took his older son Jack with him; to look for a lost city he named "Z". Fawcett had studied ancient legends and historical records and became convinced there was a missing city somewhere in the Mato Grosso region. He left a note saying that if they did not return, no one should send a rescue expedition to try to find them, or they might suffer their fate.

This request was not adhered to, since Fawcett’s disappearance, so far more than thirteen separate expeditions taken place and one hundred people have died in their attempt. Just eight years ago a group entered the Mato Grosso region, were held hostage by Kalapalo tribesmen and were fortunate enough to be rescued.

Fawcett is believed to have been an inspiration for the fictional archeological film icon Indiana Jones.

It seems Paramount will produce the film and while it’s highly possible this movie will be Hollywoodised, I’m interested.
