AARDMAN JOINS SONY
April 2nd 2007 17:55
Aarman is mostly known for Wallace and Gromit, two very likable characters. It hasn't been long since Aarman ended their relationship with Dreamworks and they already made a 3-year "first-look" deal with Sony.
This is great news since Aardman's COO, Stephen Moore, has said that Dreamworks wanted to control them too much. Aardman became popular because of their original material and it would be a shame to take that away from them, so now Sony is going to give them more space. So they say anyway.
The goal for Sony is to release two animated features per year, until now they only had one out. The goal for Aardman is to release one feature per 18 months.
I'm one of those people that watch almost every single animated film that comes out and if you have seen Open Season, made by Sony, you'll agree with me it really didn't deliver any pleasure at all. Hopefully they'll begin to create better stuff from now on.
Stay tuned for more news on Aardman's next projects as they come.
