CHILD'S PLAY REMAKE IN PROGRESS

I only saw a bit of the original film made back in 1988, so I doubt that I will see this remake. I didn’t need to see it; the image of the evil doll is embedded in my mind and has scared me into never seeing the film. I had difficulty looking at the above picture, so I'm pretty convinced this film is not for me.

Apparently, producer David Kirschner, recently revealed there is a Child's Play remake on the way. Eeek. At the moment, the film is "in the works," with a story that Kirschner claims to be "more terrifying" than the original. Double eek.

Being a producer on all five Child's Play-movies, he added that he will once again be involved, in addition to the same screenwriter who has been in charge of the scripts for all the films, Don Mancini.

Currently, there is no director onboard and the story is still in process. Kirschner did state that the plot would be very close to the original film, only with some twists that the audience won't see coming.

The original was bad enough, let alone the sequels and now a REMAKE!

Plus, clowns and many dolls seem evil before they even kill anyone. These movies weren't exactly telling anyone anything they didn't already know!

I know what you mean, Michaelie. Why a remake? Especially after there have been 4 sequels...how much more can be gained from one story? And won't it basically be the same? A gruesome doll kills people and those he doesn't get are scarred for life. Same old story but probably with better, modern gory effects. Another reason for me not to see it.

I agree with you, I find certain dolls and clowns creepy already especially after films like this and Poltergoost. It took me ages to look under my bed after that film. It has a lot to answer for.

I know he's gruesome isn't he? But obviously the films were popular as they must've raked some serious money in or else they wouldn't bother.

Try to think of pleasant things before bed, I would hate for you to have nightmares.

Thanks for popping in.

I didn't know who Chris Sarandon was so I looked him up, he's done quite a few varied roles hasn't he, including The Princess Bride and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Do you think you will see the remake if he's in it?

I think a remake is a good idea especially because of 4 & 5. I'm a fan of the childs play movies but I hate 4 and especially 5 because instead of trying to make the franchise better they made it a joke. I know this movie won't be all that great but at least they're going back to the roots and making chucky a cold hearted serial killer not a comedian.

I still wouldn't be able to watch it (I'm too scared), but although I am interested in hearing what people think of it.

A remake would be nice
I'd like to compare the new release with the old release.
I'd like to see if they will bring Chucky out of the eighties and into the 2000's like they did for the Halloween remake. And if the wrters will show more about Chucky's backround; show us why he is such a prick sometimes.
If none of you moronic buffoons didnt even enjoy the oth installments, why on God's green earth would yu even bother commenting a research review for it's reamke? Thats makes you look assinine

Don Mancini is a brilliant writer. "Seed" may have sucked, but a well rehearsed and well written reamke would be a nice thing to watch. Modern tech will make it even more thrilling ;]
I've read previous drafts from the first installment, and I know it will be intersting. They may possibly bring Jennifer Tilly into the picture again, considering they said she was Chucky's lover before his doll reincarnatio in " the bride of Chucky'.
If you're STILL reading this obviously embellished, but well thougt out comment, I suggest you either aquire a life, or stop reading comments that don't apply to you. Thats like walking into a star wars convention and yelling at the fans, you dopes

"...doesn'tsuck", for your information the remake of Halloween sucks big time ... check my review here ... Some films are best left untouched, in fact most classics should be untouchable, but unfortunately Holly-wehavenooriginalideasle ftforhorrormovies-wood doesn't think like that.

I Am A Huge Childs Play Fan, And I Think This Could Be Good For Bringing Chucky Back To A Right Evil Killer, They Have Made 4 And 5 Into Black Comedys And Really F****d Up The Story Of What He Is Supposed To Be.

However This Could Go Horribly Wrong And Destroy The Chucky Films Altogher As 5 Has Neer Enuff Done Already, They Should Have Looked It Over Once It Was Finished And Just Binned It And Started Again And Same Goes For 4, They Were Just Complete B******s.

I am a huge fan of the childsplay series but i think BAZAA was right. Bride and Seed was complete bullshit. At least Bride showed how chucky was brought back though. Seed had no showing of how chucky was brought from the grave to the film studio. Plus in every sequal but seed it took chucky atleast a couple of days before he shed blood, but in seed when the guy took tiffany's battery back off she had a complete heart after 5 minutes of being alive. Personelly I think a remake of chucky would be interesting to see, but I think they should just remake bride of chucky and see of chucky and make them bloody scary and gory like the're supposed to be.
P.S. I think the name of the fifth one should be called son of chucky

Why? Because some people like horror. And chucky movies have a huge fan base(which im a part of). Just because it isn't "popular" or big budget doesn't make it bad. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Go back to watching your big budget bore-fest trendy watered down cash-in horror flicks like Final Destination and Hostel and leave the real horror to the true horror fans.

PS - People who whine about Bride and Seed of chucky not being scary. Of course they're not because they're Dark Comedies.They weren't even trying to be scary. And really, if you're a grown-man or woman and you're still scared by living dolls you need your head checked.

I agree with that Anonymous people before. Being a huge fan of Chucky this is what the franchise NEEDS people...look, all these new "ideas" are lame half the time and a movie like Child's Play aka Chucky series I see it only getting better, especially if it has the same guys as listed working on it, updated Chucky Doll...

My biggest concern honestly is Brad Dorif, if they get a new Chucky "voice" I know for a fact a lot of fans will not like it just for that reason being a guy here that wants to break into voice acting world. Trust me, if he's not bad voicing Chucky a lot of fans will not like it. Not a doubt in my mind....

Besides, if you guys read original interviews with Don Manchini etc they had a tough time picking a voice for Chucky originally, I don't think they should worry about that by giving Brad a rest for one film(a remake no less) would be a bad idea IMO. They have to get Brad back.

4 and 5 turned the Chucky series into a joke for a lot of people unfortunately...a remake is just what this series needs honestly. BTW, the fact that they said they're going to stay with an animatronic Chucky again(but even better) is awesome, CGI chucky=not a movie, a cartoon....who wants to see that when the real thing looks great?

My opinion, later. I'll see this the day it comes out. Also love the Halloween series as well, I liked that remake adding some new twists, story behind michael so I can see Don, etc doing the same with Charles Lee Ray. Perhaps find out why Chucky is an evil, psychopath to begin with...

i think a remake is a great idea. the old ones are just too...old. Even though they were only made in 1990's i guess. Not that old but still...
And i'm interusted in who will play Andy and the other characters.

Dude, I love Chucky & I've been waiting sooo long for a new movie & I think that a remake is a good idea. The movie came out back in the '70s & the story really could be updated.

4 & 5 were not disasters, I went to see Seed of Chucky 7 times in the theatres & actually look my Chucky & Tiffany dolls to see it with me, & now I have the whole family because I bought Glen too.

& when the remake comes out, I will take Glenn to see it.

OMFG it bad enough people dont like horror movies and to say its a bad idea? pfftb thats stupid becuz if you hate it you dont have to watch it and it would be great for a new movie to come expessialy a remake....ex-.i watched the remake of halloween (rob zombies edition) and it was great becuz it shows half of the kids life kinda but when i watched the original it was stupid all it showed was him going up the stairs and kills his sister and after that i stop watching it cuz it was lame and with the new movies they have more tech to improve the skills and stuff of wha the dolls can do and stuff so all the pple who hate chucky dont get mad cuz theres a remake ffs becuz you dont have to watch it...bye and im a huge chucky fan lol so remaking it would be great =] Bye
