Eli Roth is the guy behind Hostel, a movie with more blood, gore and sex than most R-rated movies, if not all.
He also made a fake trailer for Grindhouse, called Thanksgiving. Now he wants more of that, planning for a second Grindhouse. He doesn't care about the low profit it made at the box-office. This is what he said to Cinematical:
My feeling is that three and a half hours, it was a long time at the movies for people. The movie itself was three hours and 15 minutes and then there’s 20 minutes of trailers and then parking and everything, it suddenly became a four hour evening for people. So there’s only so many times you can show it in a day and a lot of people getting off work, it was tough for people to find the time to see it. The people that saw it loved it. People were going crazy for it and I think that 25 years from now, everyone will talk about the classic movie Grindhouse and no one will talk about — the words “box office disappointment” won’t even apply.
There's some truth in his words, because estimations say it will do much better in DVD sales. However, I also think people simply aren't into that kind of shit. And by people I mean the majority, cause I'm sure a large group adores it.
Edgar Wright is the maker of the other fake trailer in Grindhouse, Don’t, and he's also interested in expanding it to a full film. They have already met to talk about it, he and Eli.
I don't know, there's actually a chance it will do better now that they learned from Grindhouse. Still, I personally wouldn't see a movie based on this trailer:
