HALLOWEEN REMAKE IS NUMBER ONE AT BOX OFFICE
September 3rd 2007 07:32
Just the picture of the new remake of Halloween scared me, so I think there’s little chance that I will see the film unless I take an entourage of support with me.
Rob Zombie's R-rated remake was number one at the box office on the Labor Day weekend, grossing (an apt word choice I thought, couldn't resist) approximately $26.5 million from 3,472 theatres. It looks like it will far outpace the previous record-holder for best Labor Day opening, Transporter 2.
Superbad is still hanging in there, no longer number one but in second place. Rogue Pictures' sports parody Balls of Fury placed third.
Halloween stars Malcolm McDowell, Sheri Moon, Tyler Mane, Brad Dourif and Danielle Harris.
The film isn't a straight remake of the 1978 original, rather a modernised reimagining. It still doesn’t entice me to take the step but of course I’m a big wimp.
Halloween is scheduled to be released internationally in October 2007. That leaves you a couple of months to brace yourself, folks, I think I might need longer...
