HARRY POTTER AND DEATHLY HALLOWS – TWO FILMS

January 14th 2008 23:22
HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS – TWO FILMS

It seems that the seventh and final Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, will be divided into two parts. The reason behind the change is simple, the books have grown in length and splitting the story is the only way to do it justice.

The first Harry book, The Philosopher's Stone is 223 pages long compared to Deathly Hallows which is 776 pages, as you can see there is quite a big difference.

Fans are waiting to see the much anticipated final confrontation between Harry and Lord Voldemort which is expected to be spectacular. Audiences would not be happy if vital scenes were omitted.

JK Rowling stated on her website: ‘It is simply impossible to incorporate every storyline into a film under four hours long.'

That makes sense to me. I think we can expect something interesting from this film, especially if Guillermo del Toro is given the opportunity to direct.

Yeah, it does make sense - and they'll make double the money too which I'm sure they don't mind! Let them drag it out - I'll still watch!

I'm really glad they're dividing it. Wouldn't want all the best parts to be cut out just for time! Can't wait!

Hi Michaelie

I didn't really think about their profits by having two films, but I guess that's true!

Hi WYT

I think that's true, as long as the film/s work/s well, that's the main thing,

Hi Amy

Yep, it's pretty definite. It'll be out in 2010 so it's a while away yet,

Tracy,

I too am glad it's being split, it's too much to fit in for anyone.

I agree the if Toro is anything to go by, they won;t dissapoint, although I think where this franchise is concerened, everyone's expectations have become too high, so there is always an element of disspointment as a result.

Not for me, I always enter a film with no expectations and am usually not dissapointed, this one will be no different, I guess... although the films are always so much quicker than the delicious anticipation of a book.

I think people tend to forget that.

I've just hired out No 5 and about to watch it ...

Hi Lilla

I know what you mean, I also try not to have high expectations for films, although sometimes that can be hard.

What did you think of number 5?

Hi Louie

That's true, how are they going stop him from aging?!

The next film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is due out Nov 2008.
