IRON MAN

August 27th 2007 14:40
IRON MAN

Iron Man is based on the long-running Marvel comic book series, which tells the story of Tony Stark, the mysterious heir to the Stark Enterprises fortune.

As a driven inventor and executive who appears to have everything, Tony is haunted by his dark side. Tony was forced to create a life support suit to keep him alive after an earlier accident and he decided to use the suit technology to fight crime.

Though he commands his empire by day, by night he secretly transforms into Iron Man, the living incarnation of decades of defence spending and modernism.

Strapping on billions of dollars worth of state-of-the-art armour and weaponry each night to fight crime, terrorism and corporate espionage, Tony begins to bend under the strain of his double lifestyle and must ultimately confront the nemesis he can never beat -- himself.

The film has an impressive cast including Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges, Samuel L. Jackson and Hilary Swank.

It’s due out on the 1st May 2008.

So, we are soon to see another comic book hero on our big screen. I wonder how this one will fare. It sounds like it has potential to me.

Hi Tracy. This movie and the new Batman film are my two "must see's" for 2008. Here's hoping that this movie follows in the footsteps of the new Batman franchise or the first two Spider-Man films, and avoids the awful pitfalls of Ghost Rider, Elektra, or the Fantastic Four films!

Yes they all have potential then I see the movie. Launching May 2nd, I thought it said laughing.

The director is the same guy that brought us Zathura, Elf and other nothings. Maybe Zathura wasn't so bad, but this wait for it may have potential. Why I don't know yet. Actually forget it I'm not interested now. I changed my mind, too much CGI and corny jokes I see them now "are you really the hard man of iron". Innuendo coming in your face.

I'll wait for the trailer first. Then again the 'Rise of the silver surfer' trailer was good, then I watched the movie... MY EYES, MY EYES, THEY BURN.

Hi Winston

That's great that you have a couple of films for 2008 that you know you want to see. Both do sound as though they have potential, but like you said hopefully they're not weak which would be a pity.

Hi Jaz

Fair enough if you think it won't be that good, after all there have been a lot of similar films that haven't been strong to hold the story properly. Yes, the trailer will give us idea of what it's like...we can only wait...

Tracy,

Damn. I thought this was a health post about Grant Kenny and Nutri-Grain.

I'm not sure about some of these Super Hero movies. They tend to go too-adult in a lot of them, and lose the whole childhood wonder for the orginal fans of the comics. They tend to be an exercise in digital SFX and big name casts.

HI David

No health talk on this post, only super heroes, hope you're not too disappointed.

I hadn't really heard that much about the film until I did some research for this post, I think it does have potential but of course who knows....it would be a pity if they don’t do it well and lose its original fans as you said.
