27.04.07: NEXT - TRAILER
April 25th 2007 11:11
To continue with the weekly releases and their trailers, we're gonna look closer on Next.
Even though Cage is involved with dreadful movies, I can't help by giving him chance after chance to change that. I'm a big fan of his earlier movies and he is overall a very good actor. Too bad he has no sense when it comes to choosing the good scripts from the bad. Then again we should mainly blame his manager who lets him participate.
Jessica Biel and Julianne Moore are the female leads, both rather nice actresses, but like Nicolas Cage they're stuck in an evil routine of bad flicks.
And I hardly believe Next is the right one to fix that. It mostly seems like a braindead actionpacked wannabe-thriller, leaning on a suspenseful concept alone. Because the idea IS good. A man that can see minutes into the future IS interesting.
When it comes down to it though, it's all about the execution. The production has already made several mistakes, like the poster as one. Very boring and looks like it's made by a template used for 90s action-movies.
Another mistake is the trailer. Sure, explosions are cool, but if you have them in every other scene it gets confusing. Like where's the story?
Maybe it's the marketing-group who made this look bad while it's really very good. Hopefully, doubtfully.
Next please... (movies with titles like this deserve to get smart-assed)
