NICOLE KIDMAN OFFERED NEW MUSICAL ROLE - NINE
April 14th 2008 04:23
It seems like we might be seeing Nicole Kidman in another singing role after her success in Moulin Rouge and her collaboration with Robbie Williams.
If Kidman does accept the role, she may appear alongside Penelope Cruz who dated Tom Cruise after his marriage split from Kidman.
The film, Nine, is a musical loosely based on Federico Fellini's 81/2, which tells the story of a director and the women in his life.
Federico Fellini (1920 –1993) was an Italian film director known for his distinctive, well-defined, unique style that meshed fantasy and baroque images. He is seen to have been one of the most influential and widely revered film-makers of the 20th century. His works won numerous awards, including four Oscars, two Silver Lions and a Palme d'Or.
Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men, The Dancer Upstairs) has already accepted the leading role alongside Marion Cotillard (La Vie en Rose, A Good Year).
Rob Marshall will be directing, his prior achievements being Chicago with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renee Zellweger.

That's my two cents on her anyway. As for this singing movie, hopefully it won't be as bad as Moulin Rouge. I really couldn't stomach that movie. Sorry guys, but there are people out there who didn't like that movie.

I'm not a big Nicole fan either, she leaves me feeling lacklustre.
Moulin Rouge did very little for me, there was too much happening at the same time.
It's the Fellini aspect that caught my attention. I don't think I've seen any of his work but after doing this post I want to. Have you seen any?
Thanks for coming over,

I was more impressed by Nicole in her younger days in films like Flirting where she seemed more real. When she became so popular and mainstream that she seemed to be in every film advertised I found it all a bit dull and predictable. And I agree, she’s looking faker and faker with every picture. I’m not saying I dislike her because of that, but as I said to Michaelie, she leaves me cold, much like her persona.
I also didn’t appreciate Moulin Rouge. Too much singing, dancing and acting, which is basically the essence of a film, hence my indifference.
But I do think this could be an interesting project given the Fellini influence and notable actors like Javier Bardem a and Marion Cotillard.
Thanks for popping in,

This movie sounds like a good idea, otherwise.
What Tracy said about her 'cold' persona is true. I remember when she had red curly hair and looked like the girl next door. Now she's so austere-looking: deathly pale, thin, pale blond hair pulled back tightly and slicked down, tightly clothed...really weird. Like a severe schoolmarm-slash-alien.

I didn't think much of her singing abilities either...
She definitely looked more 'human' in her younger days. Maybe that's what Hollywood does to a person, strips them of their exterior? Or creates a new exterior/persona....
