Although it sounds certain that Crowe has the part, I'm still sceptical. Who still really knows? Next week it could be Dame Edna Everidge.
As a mutiny against being involved, I’m just going to copy and paste the whole article (and source it of course) and I will never say another word on the matter:
Russell Crowe, 43, is set to play a villain in the new Star Trek movie. The Gladiator actor has reportedly been approached by director J.J. Abrams, who is said to be desperate to get him on board for the sci-fi epic.
A source said: "Russell is definitely considering J.J. Abrams's offer. Russell was always a Star Trek fan as a kid, which is a big bonus." The source said: "A baddie would seem more likely for Russell. He could play a part in the historic movie without having to compete with any of the original cast's performances." The new movie is due for release in December 2008.
We'll see......

Put your weapons away! Mr Spock, Bones grab Russ a coldie and welcome him aboard the Enterprise.
