I can't stress enough the amount of excitement flowing inside me right now. I'm a huge fan of "Hero", and therefore expecting this movie, "Curse of the Golden Flower", to be one of this year's greatest.
Some might say, "I don't like Chinese movies". Well I demand you to give them a chance, cause they really know what a movie is all about, by mixing drama and action in correct doses.
Anyhow, just when you think it can't get any better, listen to this: Directed and Written by the maker of "Heroes" and "House of Flying Daggers", Acted by the cast in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". The best three movies in Chinese history mixed in one!
I know I'm the only one that's hyped by this, but what can I do? Obviously nothing.

Gong Li is as stunning as ever (I remember having a big crush on here years ago when I first saw Ju Dou and then Raise the Red Lantern - both Zhang Yimou films).
Personally I much prefer the cinema of Wong Kar-wai, for me he is one of cinema's true visual poets.

Hero was a very beautiful movie, and touching at the same time. The east release some amazing movies, recently I saw Fearless with Jet Li. Once again I wasn't dissapointed.
Curse of the Golden Flower will have its premier the 14 December, so it's not too far away.

If Hero both was subbed and dubbed, this will probably be too, but promise me you will watch the subbed one. Otherwise the whole point and most of the feling is gone (for me anyway).

Indeed, nothing can match the colors of an eastern movie. I can agree with you that the images are pretty usual, since martial arts can't get so very different anymore, but there's always a surprise somewhere...
Gong Li looks amazing! She and Ziyi Zhang are my top favorites, they just doesn't get older... Last time I saw Gong Li was in Miami Vice, good movie (not great) but Gong made it better.
