LEATHERHEADS - GEORGE CLOONEY PICTURE

August 22nd 2007 12:32
Leatherheads

It's hard to make George Clooney look weird but you can never go wrong with a leather helmet/condom.

Seriously, that's what football players wore in the early 20's. And no, Clooney isn't one of the players, that would be sloppy, but the owner of this college team. Krasinski plays the star player that becomes a sensation and Renée Zellweger the skeptical journalist that smells a fraud with this star.

Leatherheads is released in December (USA).

A DARK KNIGHT PIC -HEATH LEDGER

A DARK KNIGHT PIC -HEATH LEDGER

Can you believe this is Heath Ledger? Talk about effective make-up. This is him as the Joker in The Dark Knight who apparently beats up Batman.

Rumours are floating around that there will be several Batmans (or is that Batmen) in the movie, as well as possible decoys...

Even though the film is a year away, somehow these pics leaked out and I found them, I’m proud of myself.

As I tend to say, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. And whatever does, it sounds intriguing.

Enjoy....

NEW SAW IV PICTURE

NEW SAW IV PICTURE

OfficialSaw attained a new picture from the upcoming fourth installment of Saw IV. My apologies that the picture isn't bigger, but then again maybe that's a good thing or is just that I'm a wimp? I can handle the truth....

It's the third image to be released and one I can barely look at. It shows us that the torture scenes will be extremely brutal and fierce. The picture features a man in a chair, while Freddy Kruger-type blades are slicing up his face. It certainly tells us a lot.

Eeek and eek, again. I'm scared. I would have to see this with company and maybe a psychiatrist.

Disney has released the first three stills from the new First National Treasure 2.

This is the 2007 sequel to the 2004 National Treasure film. It is directed by Jon Turteltaub and written primarily by Gregory Poirier. As of January 27, 2006, numerous producers have been announced, including Jerry Bruckheimer, Oren Aviv, Chad Oman, and Charles Segars. As the first film was so sucessful, earning $347.5 million worldwide, a sequel was given the go-ahead in 2005.

So what can we expect from the sequel? Most of the same cast returns for the second installment, including Justin Bartha and Diane Kruger. Nicolas Cage is Ben Gates acting alongside his Father, played by Jon Voight. In the new film, the story revolves around Benjamin Franklin Gates (Cage), who searches to find the truth behind the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, by uncovering the mystery in the 18 pages missing from assassin John Wilkes Booth's diary. Exciting stuff.

The adventurous quest begins when Gates finds out that his ancestors were a significant part of history, but not in a good way, of course, otherwise why would we be watching?

The film will be released at the end of the year so there isn't that long to wait if you're keen. Enjoy....

JOHNNY DEPP AND HELENA BONHAM CARTER
This is a film I’m looking forward to seeing for a few reasons; firstly the story of Sweeney Todd has always fascinated me since I was younger and saw theatre productions of it in England. Additionally, I am curious to see a new version of the story.

Its line-up is appealing, Johnny Depp is the ostensible fictional demon barber, Sweeney Todd . By simply looking at the poster, he looks like he has embraced his role thoroughly. I can feel his presence through the poster.

Others actors include Johnny Depp, Alan Rickman, Timothy Spall and I was surprised to see Sacha Baron Cohen in there too. It will be interesting to see him in such a different role.

Tim Burton is the director and the studio is Paramount Pictures. Hugh Wheeler wrote the original book but I discovered through research that there is another adaptation by author Peter Haining, a horror and crime story writer who argues that Sweeney Todd was a historical figure who did exist and whose crimes were committed around 1800.

It is this ambiguity surrounding the story that further entices me. I do have a penchant for real crime stories.

The film is based on the 19th century legend of Sweeney Todd and the hit Broadway musical. Sweeney Todd also known as Benjamin Barker returns to London after being sent away by Judge Turpin with the help of a sailor, Anthony Hope. He opens a barber shop above Mrs. Lovett's Meat Pie Shop where she sells "the worst pies in London". With her help, Sweeney Todd sets out to seek revenge on the judge who he believes wrongfully imprisoned him.

Todd, as well as being a barber is a serial killer. His weapon is a straight razor that he uses to cut his victim's throats, often in the barber’s chair. In some versions of the story his lover, friend and accomplice, Margery Lovett, cooks meat pies from the victims’ carcasses.

The film will be released at the beginning of 2008. Here's the poster:

BATMAN'S NEW SUIT

July 14th 2007 20:48
Slowly but steady the studios prepare us for the upcoming Batman, The Dark Knight.

For quite some period it was the Joker, now it's Batman's suit. Of course everything looks so much more awesome once on the screen, but right now I don't know what to think. It's like they tried too hard with details. Simple and clean is always nicer.

THE JOKER REVEALED

May 21st 2007 12:30
The Joker

Not the best picture, actually horrible quality, but I like how they've done the Joker.

The Joker was revealed through a smart marketing campaign Warner Bros. put together, where the picture got clearer and clearer with the amount of emails registered over here. Now the limit is reached and the picture is fully visible.

After all the fake photos and what I think is an amusing story, we finally got a taste of the Joker. What do you think? I think The Dark Knight will rule.

BEE MOVIE CANNES PROMOTION

May 18th 2007 09:31
Some films just get all the attention. It seems like this year it's the Bee Movie, by Dreamworks. Spielberg and Seinfeld really managed to make everyone notice it, not least with a flying Seinfeld dressed like a bee.

Here are some photos from their Cannes promotion:

OFFICIAL PHOTOS OF JOHN RAMBO

May 16th 2007 22:20
Immediately after watching these pictures of John Rambo I couldn't help myself but laugh. Loudly.

It just seems too pathetic and desperate to me. I mean ok, Rocky old and fat, I buy it if the story recognizes that. However Rambo? The guy that's supposed to kill armies by himself? Old and with the expression of a 5 year old? Please.

THE DARK KNIGHT - LOGO

May 13th 2007 22:46
Dark Knight logo

In this rather boring Sunday, I thought I would post some quite popular news. Still boring though.

The Batman sequel, The Dark Knight, is set up with an official site as of yesterday. It contains nothing except the above logo. I'm glad we got something official from Warner Bros. but I can't say it looks amazing. At least not as amazing as the Batman Begins logo, if you remember it.

Enjoy until more content is loaded onto the Dark Knight site.

Jazz

Michael Bay tries to make the hype of the Transformers even louder than it already is, by releasing some big pictures of the characters. As in enormous bad-ass robots.

I like the look, and of course they'll be even cooler in the movie.

You can find all the pictures over at Bay's site.

Watch a clip or the poster, if you haven't already.

Hello all Michael Madsen fans! Here's a first look at one of his newest movies that ended filming few days ago.

It's called Outrage and is a thriller about some bad guys that try to get hold of the funds that are kept secret by the hero. The only way to reach the money is by finding the code to a safe. And so on. [IMDB]

Not much is revealed just yet, but it's an independent movie so don't expect something huge either. That means unless it ends up being really good and gets positive critique in festivals, studio release, etc. Michael Madsen is reason enough to think it has nice chances at it.

Anyway, a picture is available from the set, not the most clear one, but you can see Michael in it, looking hardcore as always.

Outrage

Cheers,

IRON MAN - THE COSTUME DESIGN

May 2nd 2007 21:54
Few days ago we had a look at Robert Downey Jr. as the Iron MAN, now we're gonna take a look at the IRON Man.

EW got a first look at the costume, designed by Oscar-winning F/X guru Stan Winston. I like the fact that it's very faithful to the comic's costume of Iron Man. It's just a bit adjusted, in a good way. Looks even cooler.

Another thing I'm glad to read is that Favreau, the director, says it's gonna be ''a decidedly adult superhero story'. We've seen it work before, with Batman Begins nevertheless, so it's the right step. After all Iron Man was kinda adult from the comics already, with his drinking problems and all...

Anyway here's the costume:

Another movie I look forward to and that's based in a comic character, is Iron Man. Some films just smell confidence.

Now a nice pic is out of Robert Downey Jr., the Iron Man himself, that I personally think looks great. Robert is way up on his career with several superb movies lately, such as A Scanner Darkly and Zodiac.

Take a look and smile. We await something great. When? In almost exactly a year from now, 30 April.

FANTASTIC FOUR 2 PICTURES

April 25th 2007 11:28
I know this doesn't have a lot of fans, at least not as many as other comic-movies, but it still is pretty amusing I must say. Not great, but entertaining in a way.

By all the previews we got so far, it looks like this will be even better. I like to think that film-makers learn from their mistakes, even thought that's not the case. Usually we get the same piece of crap or worse. And even a bit better than crap is still not good, so...

Anyway, some brand new stills are out at the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer myspace, so here ya go:

And now you're saying "what?! no Jessica Alba?". Trust me, you don't want to see any pics of her from this one.

THE STORY OF THE JOKER PICTURES

April 23rd 2007 15:39
So what's up with all the joker pictures getting published here and there and everywhere? Why bother when ultimately nothing is fully reliable anyway?

Well, it's fun. Like the biggest breaking scoop since the first picture of Venom. So here's the whole story until today.

After Christopher Nolan made Batman into something far cooler than expected with Batman Begins, everyone started to whisper about what the sequel, The Dark Knight, will be about and what villain will be used. Well, not exactly, but anyway soon enough we found out the Joker would return. And then that he would be played by Heath Ledger. Exciting news.

The Joker is probably one of my favorite villains of all time. Jack Nicholson made him great.

More than a year until release and people are eager to get hold of a glimpse of the Joker. Any glimpse, whatever the quality is and whatever its originality is. And that's where our story begins.

WANTED: Scary smiling guy with scars all over his face, gray skin and raggedy costume.

The Joker comic

The first picture that came out was this comic picture found in one of the comics. It suits the above description very well and therefore quickly became the template of how the final joker will look like. More info can be found here.

The Joker set pic

The second picture released on the net was this very blurry shot that Superherohype got to. At least it's real and shows (tries to show, really) Heath Ledger being on the set. If you have this kind of access to the set of Batman you don't carry an old cell-camera for God's sake! So of course it wasn't good enough for all the fans...

Heath as fake Joker

Now the backstory of this pic, that AICN published, is more complicated. Either it's something a smart-ass made in photoshop or something Warner Bros. actually created as a "concept picture", a picture of Heath Ledger digitally remade to test make-ups and stuff. Both seem logical to me. Whatever the case is, it's definitely not something original and therefore should be ignored right away.

The Joker makeup

Finally we got a true but still non-official picture, again from AICN. IT'S FAKE FOLKS, AICN GOT PUNK'D THREE TIMES BY NOW. Heath is still nowhere to be found. Why? Because it's only a fake make-up test. At least it's something by Warner Bros. and therefore reliable. We can now see how the Joker's scars will be, his skin, his hair, etc. A lot to be made yet and I'm certain that the film will show the Joker much more interesting than this.

Summary: The Joker is almost found but still on the run. Be careful for all the copycats out there and if you get over a true and good picture of him, you'll be awarded with the glory of the whole wide net. If you send it to me that is.

Until then, go see Spiderman 3 and hang around for other news!

3:10 TO YUMA - PICTURES

April 20th 2007 11:40
3:10 to Yuma promises to be good. Great, almost perfect, cast and the story isn't bad either. I'm not a fan of western flicks, but this seems to be more than that. Interesting.

Russell Crowe, Christian Bale, Ben Foster are some of the stars in 3:10 to Yuma. I must say, that's like my dream-team right there. The movie is about a small-time rancher that agrees to hold a captured outlaw who's awaiting a train to go to court in Yuma. A battle of wills ensues as the outlaw tries to psych out the rancher. (IMDB)

Until the trailer or poster, we have to settle with some nice pictures. My film-radar says "appealing".
