MOVING McALLISTER - POSTER

August 23rd 2007 12:54
I never enjoyed Jon Heder as an actor, it's like a character moving around in different movies. In other words he has the same style, brain and unfortunately voice in every performance.

Anyway I shouldn't say much cause his fan base is bigger than me, and that's scary.

In "his" new movie, Moving McAllister, he's a hitchhiker. Probably a dorky one. The movie's is about Rick Robinson, a climbing law intern from Miami with four days until the Bar Exam. Desperate to score points with his boss (McAllister), he commits to a favor he can't afford and ends up in a rundown truck headed to L.A. with his boss's possessions, his Hollywood-bound niece, and her pet pig. Of course Rick finds love, life and maybe himself in this trans-American road trip from hell. [IMDB]

Sounds like a movie I'd like. You?

The poster for Enchanted, Disney's new animated/live-action film has been released.

When the prince's mother learns of this relationship, she uses magic to send the girl into the real world. As a result, the girl has to learn how to survive in New York City and as well as find her way home to her true love.

EASTERN PROMISES – POSTER

August 14th 2007 09:33
This new thriller, Eastern Promises from director David Cronenberg reunites him with his A History of Violence main actor Viggo Mortensen.

The film follows the mysterious and merciless Nikolai (Mr. Mortensen), who is linked to one of London’s most notorious organised crime families. His cautiously maintained existence is jarred when he meets Anna (Naomi Watts), an innocent midwife trying to right a wrong, who accidentally uncovers prospective evidence against the family. Now Nikolai must put into motion a harrowing sequence of murder, deceit, and retribution.

Produced by Focus Features and by the looks of this new poster, it seems obvious that we can expect another deliciously twisted and macabre tale.

It opens September 14th.

NEW STAR TREK POSTER

August 13th 2007 10:44
There seems to be new Star Trek information coming out every day. It seems definite that three people have been cast: Zachary Quinto as Mr. Spock, Anton Yelchin as Pavel Checkov, and Leonard Nimoy. The ambiguity surrounding Russell Crowe and Tom Cruise continues and to be honest, I might just wait and see what happens when the film is finally completed, all the rumours surrounding those two are doing my head in. Who knows what is going on with those two?

I thought I would post this newly released poster assuming that once a poster is out and circulated it can't be changed. Well, that's what I think anyhoo.

JOHNNY DEPP AND HELENA BONHAM CARTER
This is a film I’m looking forward to seeing for a few reasons; firstly the story of Sweeney Todd has always fascinated me since I was younger and saw theatre productions of it in England. Additionally, I am curious to see a new version of the story.

Its line-up is appealing, Johnny Depp is the ostensible fictional demon barber, Sweeney Todd . By simply looking at the poster, he looks like he has embraced his role thoroughly. I can feel his presence through the poster.

Others actors include Johnny Depp, Alan Rickman, Timothy Spall and I was surprised to see Sacha Baron Cohen in there too. It will be interesting to see him in such a different role.

Tim Burton is the director and the studio is Paramount Pictures. Hugh Wheeler wrote the original book but I discovered through research that there is another adaptation by author Peter Haining, a horror and crime story writer who argues that Sweeney Todd was a historical figure who did exist and whose crimes were committed around 1800.

It is this ambiguity surrounding the story that further entices me. I do have a penchant for real crime stories.

The film is based on the 19th century legend of Sweeney Todd and the hit Broadway musical. Sweeney Todd also known as Benjamin Barker returns to London after being sent away by Judge Turpin with the help of a sailor, Anthony Hope. He opens a barber shop above Mrs. Lovett's Meat Pie Shop where she sells "the worst pies in London". With her help, Sweeney Todd sets out to seek revenge on the judge who he believes wrongfully imprisoned him.

Todd, as well as being a barber is a serial killer. His weapon is a straight razor that he uses to cut his victim's throats, often in the barber’s chair. In some versions of the story his lover, friend and accomplice, Margery Lovett, cooks meat pies from the victims’ carcasses.

The film will be released at the beginning of 2008. Here's the poster:

NEW SAW IV POSTER

August 9th 2007 22:23
Lionsgate and the American Red Cross, one of the nation’s largest blood collection organizations have announced a formal partnership for the Fourth Annual SAW “Give Til It Hurts” blood drive benefiting the Red Cross. The event will coincide with the Halloween premiere of SAW IV which opens on October 26, 2007 in the States. Tobin Bell, who plays the villain Jigsaw, will be featured in several public service announcements announcing the drives.

Here’s the new Saw IV poster for those of you that enjoy a bit of blood and guts for entertainment. I’m not brave enough but you might be. Good luck.

ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS - POSTER

July 14th 2007 20:28
Alvin and the Chipmunks is originally a cartoon series from the 60s that I know nothing about. If you're like me, the chipmunks are a music group containing mischievous group leader Alvin; tall and quiet Simon; and chubby, impressionable Theodore. [IMDB]

The movie is soon to be released and Jason Lee has the main role, next to the animated creatures.

I recommend you to have low expectations, but you never know.

SAW IV - POSTER

June 12th 2007 09:11
I always find the posters for Saw amusing. They're kinda smart and creepy at the same time.

This is the first poster for Saw IV, but I can't see IT. The smart thing. If anyone does, help me out. Creepy is there though, oh yes.

Saw IV, the fourth installation, follows the story from the third one, so make sure you see it before this.

BLONDE AND BLONDER - POSTER

I'm not gonna write anything about this movie, where two blondes are mistaken as international mob killers. I feel a trend I don't like.

BRATZ - POSTERS

June 12th 2007 08:59
Even though I personally don't like this, I'm sure it'll be a success to all girls between ages 5-13. And boys between 5-75.

Bratz: The Movie is of course based on the best-selling dolls, and follows the exciting and glamorous lives of Cloe, Jade, Sasha, and Yasmin; the teenage girls with a "passion for fashion"! [IMDB]

The tagline "get ready, get glam, get real" is so original too.

I AM LEGEND - POSTER

June 7th 2007 20:12
I apologize to all frequent readers for a very slow week, but there are practically nothing interesting going on and a lot of personal shit occurred. It seems like that's over now.

Will Smith is a great guy with lots of style and talent, that seems to manage his career perfectly fine. And his son's career. His next film is I Am Legend.

I Am Legend about Robert Neville, the last man alive, that busies himself with preparing for a nightly attack from the rest of the world - all of which have transformed into blood-thirsty vampires. [IMDB]

It may sound like something we've seen before or simply like just another vampire/zombie flick, and it might very well be one. However, sometimes Akiva Goldsman, the writer, really nails it. Hopefully this will be one of those movies.

HOT ROD - POSTER

June 5th 2007 15:53
While "stupid" comedies have gotten a lot of appreciation this year (Knocked Up, Superbad), I don't know what to believe about this one.

Hot Rod seems too stupid. The trailer we saw a while ago didn't exactly laugh me out of the chair so...

Still, I think there are few [fun] comedies out there; I hope for the best.

JOSHUA - POSTER

June 1st 2007 08:43
Sometimes a poster doesn't need to show something scary to be scary. Or creepy. This poster just shows a boy looking at himself in a painting and immediately it transfers this creepy feeling.

Joshua is about to tear his family apart July 6.

EVAN ALMIGHTY - POSTER

May 31st 2007 14:41
A lot of people state Bruce Almighty is their favorite Jim Carrey film. What will they think about a similar film, the sequel Evan Almighty, but without Jim Carrey?

Probably that it's one of the best Steve Carell films they've seen. But just probably.

I'm worried that they'll go over the top and just make this whole thing ridiculous, instead of a fun "serious" comedy. I mean like this poster. Sure, it's amusing and all, but a bit too cartoonish.

WAR - POSTER

May 31st 2007 14:32
You're a martial arts fan? Or just enjoy movies where every other minute includes a kick in someone's arse? Then War is a movie you should look forward for.

Jason Statham and Jet Li are fighting each other to the point they can't possibly have any moves left. By the trailer, it looks entertaining though, so it might be worth renting or buying in DVD.

This new poster is hardly original, but I like to see how a guy with a lot of facial hair envies the one without.

RESCUE DAWN - POSTER

May 29th 2007 11:44
Werner Herzog, director of documentary Grizzly Man, is soon to release his new movie called Rescue Dawn.

It stars a thin Christian Bale and Steve Zahn, about a US Fighter pilot's epic struggle of survival after being shot down on a mission over Laos during the Vietnam War. [IMDB]

The estimated budget is $10million, so there might not be mind-blowing explosions, but it's still enough to make a good war movie.

I've seen Grizzly Man and Herzog has some potential, but I don't know what to expect at this moment. Anyway, the new poster is out for Rescue Dawn, which I think has some similarities to that of Grizzly Man as well.

1408 - FINAL POSTER

May 25th 2007 21:50
Finally a poster that is acceptable, unlike the previous one for 1408.

Of course if you got stars like John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson in a film, it's like a rule to use them in the poster. And I'm glad they didn't do it over the top, just discretely enough, transferring a suspenseful vibe to get us excited...

GOOD LUCK CHUCK - NAUGHTY POSTERS

May 23rd 2007 16:52
These posters really confuse me... Is this what they mean by "sex sells"? And why does the tagline contain the actor's real name instead of its character-name? It's not like Jessica has something, it's her character, Cam! Etc...

Anyway, find the naughty part in these three Good Luck Chuck posters. And then watch the trailer if you haven't yet.

KUNG FU PANDA - POSTER

May 22nd 2007 10:51
Animated movies rule. Seriously, it seems like all the effort and star-power is concetrated on animated flicks. For instance, Shrek 3 has an incredible cast and is funnier than most "regular" comedies.

Dreamworks is coming with another movie now, called Kung Fu Panda. If it as hilarious as it look, it'll certainly surpass the success of Madagascar.

Po the Panda is the laziest animals in all of the Valley of Peace, but unwittingly becomes the chosen one when enemies threaten their way of life. [IMDB]

The cast? Jack Black, Jackie Chan, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman... See what I mean?

SEED BY UWE BOLL - POSTER

May 21st 2007 12:57
I think it's the only time I've written the director's name in the title of news like this, because I feel it's my duty to warn everybody.

Seed is Uwe Boll's next installment in the IMDB bottom 100 list, about a man that is bound and buried alive and seeks bloody vengeance on those who caused him his suffering.

AICN said:

For 5 minutes we have to endure a barrage of real-life footage of animals being tortured and killed. Whimpering foxes being skinned alive and beaten. Baby seals being clubbed... a skinned animal that looked like a dog suffering, obviously dying very slowly, dogs getting their skulls crushed in by heavy boots.

I think I wasted too much energy on this crap already.
