SIMPSON MOVIE PREMIERED IN SYDNEY LAST WEEK
July 30th 2007 06:50
Australian stars of the small screen have joined Homer, Marge, Bart and Lisa on the yellow carpet in Sydney as the Simpsons make the leap to the big screen.
Sydney's Fox Studios was transformed into downtown Springfield, complete with a Kwik-E-Mart, serving Homer's favourite doughnuts and ice cold squishys, for the Australian premier of The Simpsons Movie.
Some 3000 guests, including TV personality Larry EmdUr, Sydney Swans coach Paul Roos and children's group Hi-5, strolled the "yellow carpet" this evening, posing with their favourite Simpsons characters.
Hi-5's Charli Delaney's favourite character was Lisa "because she's so cute" while children's author Andrew Daddo preferred barman Moe. Others, like comedian Mikey Robbins, saw themselves in some of the Simpsons characters.
"If Homer and Barney ever got married I would be their baby," Robbins joked.
After 20 years, 18 seasons and 400 episodes, The Simpsons Movie opensed nationwide last Thursday.
In the eagerly awaited animated feature film, Homer must save the world from a catastrophe he himself has created.
The film's creators have managed to include every character that has ever appeared in the series.
The show's creator, Matt Groening, has promised the film will reward avid fans of the TV series with subtle "in" jokes.
Has anyone seen it yet and if you have, what did you think?

Thanks for your comments. Yes, it would be great to hear what other people think.
I suspected that it wouldn't be worth the hype but I'm not a big lover of programs made into films, I'd definitely love to hear what other people think. A couple of my friends said it was good...so it sounds like there's mixed responses to it,
