THE SIMPSONS MOVIE SETS BOX OFFICE RECORDS IN THE STATES

August 3rd 2007 02:41
THE SIMPSONS MOVIE

Well, I must admit I’m surprised at how well The Simpsons film has done. A popular cartoon does not always translate well onto the big screen. Some of the ones I've watched I've yearned to be watching the telly program rather than the film version.

I'm not a huge lover of the program so I will probably wait until DVD to see it, but it is definitely a clever, unique, witty and humorous program.

In the States the film has been a huge success, scoring the third-highest opening weekend ever for an animated film, with an estimated $72 million domestically from 3,922 screens, behind only the last two Shrek instalments.

It drastically outpaced expectations both domestically and overseas, reflecting positive reviews. It made more than Transformers and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix combined in foreign markets.

Gosh, impressive don’t you think? I won’t be rushing out to see it, I don’t think it’s my cuppa but I’m interested in what others think.

Here’s the trailer if you feel like having a look. Enjoy.

Haven't seen it yet but from what I hear it's one long episode - I'm like you, I'll probably wait for it to come out on DVD.

IF the movie is genuinely good it iwll hold it's top spot, if it's just all the hype behind it, it will plummet soon enough.

Thats how it works with movies these days...

great film and the writing on the simpsons is wittier than 99% of stuff on film and television so it was always going to be quality.

Gosh, so it only took a couple of days for M13 and Spiderman 3 to go down, Ahmed?

That's really quick.

Hi Stanley

Do you mean that the writing in the series is better than the film or the otehr way around? Sorry, I'm having a slow day, having trouble in getting my brain to function. So, you've seen the film and you liked it?
