THE GOLDEN AGE - TRAILER
April 23rd 2007 21:57
A lot of golden stuff lately. Few months ago we had The Golden Compass with Keira Knightley and now it's time for the trailer of The Golden Age with Cate Blanchett. Two different stories but still period pieces.
If you've seen Elizabeth, this is the follow-up. If you haven't seen Elizabeth, this is the follow-up to it. See how simple it is?
In The Golden Age we explore the relationship between Queen Elizabeth I (Blanchett) and the adventurer Sir Walter Raleigh (Clive Owen).
Like I've said before, I'm a big fan of Cate's and enjoy almost everything she does. Great actress, like few. Coincidentally I'm also a big fan of Clive Owen. Both together makes this a promising movie I will see at the first chance I get.
The trailer can be felt as a bit lame when it starts off, but becomes better with time. Cate becomes believable and powerful. I can almost guarantee that she gets the Oscar next year. Seriously, you can go out and bet your money on her already.
Won't it be fun to have the Queen of England win two times in a row? Of course Helen Mirren, the winner of this year, played Queen Elizabeth II and now we're talking about the first.
Just one thing - "you are a very great lady"? Sounds awfully wrong, in a unimaginative way.

This does look good. Saw the first one and thought it
very well done. And Samantha Morton, no slouch as
an actress, as a bonus, in this sequel.
But - glad of Clive Owens but, does this mean no Joseph Fiennes?
