ZODIAC - SUSPENSEFUL TRAILER
November 17th 2006 13:22
Zodiac, a suspenseful story starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr. is no out.
It's my kinda stuff, detectives, mysteries, darkness mixed with lightness... makes sense huh? This trailer is longer than the average one, 2,5 minutes, and gives a pretty good idea of its style. A bit Da Vinci-like.
Great cast though so it better be good.

I agree the trailer is quite suspenseful... what did you think about the choice of music? Do you think it was used in an ironic way, or that it blended in with the story well? Check out my own analysis of the trailer here!

I read your analysis, and think you really got it right there.
When it comes to the music it is something I actually thought of too. I like it, it's not usual for a serial-killer film like you say, but it's different in a good way.
I don't think it's used in an ironic way; it's just that they probably wanned to make a happy and entertaining movie, but still keep the suspenseful plot it has.
What better way to do that, than a serial-killer movie with glad music? You should check out Lucky Number Slevin, they try with the same style there too.

I caught LNS (or 'The Wrong Man', as it was titled in Australia - are you in the States?) about a week ago and enjoyed it a lot, unfortunately I don't remember the music much, but I liked the way they tried to keep it playful... I actually have a review of it on my site too.

And you got my point - playful but still serious... Like the Zodiac trailer.
